HOW TO STORE YOUR DRONE BATTERIES FOR BEST RESULTS

The battery is one of the most important components of your Hylio ag drone (or any drone) so keeping it in good condition is very important. Here are some simple to follow guidelines that will help you get the best lifespan and performance out of your batteries while not in use during storage, especially long term and winter storage.

1. Maintain a 40% to 60% Charge
The most important rule for long-term storage is to never store your drone batteries fully depleted or fully charged. Storing them empty can lead to permanent cell death and ruin the battery. Hylio recommends storing their batteries between 40% and 60% capacity.
Note: Hylio battery chargers have a specific "storage" function. If the batteries will not be used for over a week, you can simply plug them in and press and hold the "storage" button to automatically bring them to the correct capacity.
2. Store in a Climate-Controlled Environment
Temperature is a major factor in battery health. For winter or long-term storage, Hylio strongly recommends keeping the batteries in a climate-controlled, warm environment. A heated shop, office, or basement is ideal.
3. Elevate Them Off the Floor
If you absolutely must store the batteries in an uncontrolled, colder environment (like an unheated garage or barn), do not leave them sitting directly on the concrete. Elevate the batteries off the floor (on a wooden shelf or pallet) to help protect them from extreme, rapid temperature shifts.
4. Wait for Them to Cool Before Charging
If you are putting the batteries into storage immediately after a flight, always wait for the batteries to cool down before placing them on the charger to initiate the storage charge.
The Bottom Line - Protect Your Investment
Taking care of your Hylio batteries during the off-season isn't just about safety, it's about protecting a valuable asset in your drone setup. Spending a few minutes to set your storage charges and find a warm, climate-controlled shelf will save you thousands of dollars over the long term.
